Libyan Rep. to UN turning against Gadhafi?
During the UNSC session regarding Libya today, the Libyan representative to the UN spoke out against his own government's atrocities against the Libyan people.
Ambassadors are representatives of the government that sent them, so what I'm wondering is whether this is the first time an ambassador of a country turned against the government s/he represents. Most cases I've ever recalled had the ambassador resign in protest long before then or leave when the government fell (i.e., Iraq's ambassador to the UN leaving when US troops entered Baghdad in 2003).
I should clarify that I do have a question in the second paragraph - is this the first time that a country's ambassador has turned against the government that sent it?
