It's not called an Igloo...it's called a ?

Hello,
Back in Grade 4, our class went on a fieldtrip and created something cool.  It was not an igloo but it was made of purely snow.  The goal was to stack and shovel tons of snow to make a mini hill.  Then a team begins to dig a opening in the middle.  It's suppose to be great for winter hikes if you have to camp outside in the winter.  I was also told if you light one candle inside you can stay warm for the whole night.  

The problem is...I cannot remember the name of it.  I know it's NOT called an igloo very similar to a tent but made of purely snow and only one person can really sleep in it.

Does anyone know the name of it?

I think you are referring to a quinzee. 

The way we were taught to build it is not quite the same as they indicate on the attached website. What we would do is take our backpacks and perhaps some fir tree branches and place them in a pile. Then you cover your packs and the branches with snow. Then you go around doing other things while you wait for the snow pile to "set" a little bit. Finally, you go and dig an entrance to get to your backpacks, pull the packs and branches out, or use the branches as a ground layer so you are not laying on snow.

This is like a snow cave, or a snow shelter.  You make them where the snow is not right for cutting into blocks for igloos.  They take a while to make, but where it is really cold (like up here in the Yukon where I live), they make a nice, warm, snug shelter.
