For a alcohol do be classed as aromatic does it have to have a hydroxyl group on every C in the benzene ring or just on a branch or inbetween.
My textbook wasn't as clear as i would like it to be on this, thanks in advance I tend to award best answers

An aromatic alcohol is one with a benzene ring and an alcohol group. This does not mean it has to have one on every carbon. It is deemed aromatic due to the benzene ring.

Usually an alcohol is called aromatic when you have a hydroxyl group in a branched attached to the benzene ring. If you have it attached to the ring directly you'll have a phenol.
