Sugar grams? How many sugar grams should I eat per day?
In regards to fruit, how many sugar grams should I consume? I try to eat around 10-11 grams of added sugar a day; I eat healthy. I just wanted to know how many grams of sugar from fruit should I consume being that fruit has so much sugar in a daily recommended of 1- 1-1/2 cups of it. And how many grams of vegetable sugar grams should I eat? I am 26 years old, 100 pounds, 5'2.
I hear that I should eat 50 to 60 to even 80 grams from researching on the web... But that sounds too small (50 grams) because I like nuts like almonds and raisins and berries. Are nut sugar grams considered regular sugar or should I add that to the 50-80 grams of natural sugar?
Thanks
Fruit Intake:
According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2 cups of fruit daily is recommended if you are a male age 14 or older. For adult women, the recommendation is 2 cups of fruit daily from age 19 through 30 and 1 1/2 cups after age 30.
Sugar:
A report released in 2006 by the World Health Organization (WHO) urges people to limit their daily consumption of free (added) sugars to less than 10 percent of their total energy intake (Diet Nutrition and the Prevention of Chronic Diseases; TRS916). This recommendation adds up to approximately 12 teaspoons (48 grams) of added (free) sugar a day based on an average 2000-calorie diet
