Quick problem help!PLEASEE?

From a rectangular sheet of paper Evan makes a small open rectangular prism by cutting four congruent squares from each corner and taping the sides together. The final prism will have a 5 cm * 4 cm base. Its volume is 60 cm.

What is the area of the original piece of paper?

The volume of the prism is length × width × height, and this is 60 (cubic cm)
The area of the base is length × width = 4*5 = 20 (square cm)

So the height must be (length × width × height)/(length × width) = 60 cm³/20cm² = 3 cm. This is the length of each side of the four congruent cutout squares.

Draw a diagram of the original rectangular sheet with the four squares cut out. From your diagram you should see that the sheet is (3 + 4 + 3) cm by (3 + 5 + 3) cm, so the area of the original piece of paper is 110 cm²
