What can be done about lack of safety at work?

I work as a cashier at a retail store and today while I was at work this guy who I assume was on drugs came through my line with his mom throwing things on the conveyer belt, cussing, screaming, threatening to rip peoples faces off and towards the end grabbed a bag out of my hand. The security guard, and managers did nothing. The only people who asked if I was ok were the other cashiers. The coos werent even called. Is there anything that can be done towards the store for lack of my safety at work. I was in fear the whole time.

I meant to say cops weren't called.

I have dealt with many unhappy customers in the five years that I have worked there. This guy being unhappy had nothing to do with the store making him unhappy. He was cussing and screaming throughout the whole store and when he got up front cussing abd screaming security should have stepped in. The moment he yanked the bag out of my hand making contact with me that was assault and still nothing was done.

Likely not.

I would guess that this is the first time you've encountered an upset customer and much of your fear is over the fact that you didn't know how to handle him.

Perhaps the manager should have stepped in, perhaps not - we're only getting your perceptions of the situation and they may be exaggerated.

Address your concerns to the manager as the security guards should have intervened. This is a dangerous situation so let them know.

You can bring up your fear to the management team of your store, but beyond that there really isn't anything you can do.
