they don't believe buddha to be a god. he is a man who achieved enlightenment. people worship him and emulate him in hopes to achieve enlightenment themselves. there is scripture called Sutra, and yes is it a religion.

the Buddha introduced four Noble Truths:
1. Life means suffering.
2. The origin of suffering is attachment.
3. The cessation of suffering is attainable.
4. The path to the cessation of suffering is eightfold.
