    they don't believe buddha to be a god. he is a man who achieved enlightenment. people worship him and emulate him in hopes to achieve enlightenment themselves. there is scripture called Sutra, and yes is it a religion.

    the Buddha introduced four Noble Truths:

    1. Life means suffering.

    2. The origin of suffering is attachment.

    3. The cessation of suffering is attainable.

    4. The path to the cessation of suffering is eightfold.

    The Eightfold Path:

    Wisdom

    1. Right View

    2. Right Intention

    3. Right Speech

    Ethical Conduct

    4. Right Action

    5. Right Livelihood

    6. Right Effort

    Mental Development

    7. Right Mindfulness

    Buddha is the deity since he is a deity in Hinduisms also.

    Buddha is the rules and regulations

    Buddha's teachings are the scripture

    Buddhism was created around the teachings of Buddha by his disciples and turned into a religion.The same way Christianity was turned into a religion around the teachings of Christ.
