How were Jehovah's Witnesses treated by the Nazis in WW2?

As one who opposes Jehovah's Witnesses, I am not surprised you agree with Annsan.

In harmony with Rom 13:1 Christians are to be obedient and supportive of all governments. So Jehovah's Witnesses are submissive to all the governments we live under today, including the Russian government.

Where we differ from other religions is where Caesar laws contradict God's laws. Then we obey God rather than Caesar.

Notice Paul's words to King Aggrepa.

(Acts 26:2, 3) “2 “Concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews, King A·gripʹpa, I consider myself happy that it is before you I am to make my defense this day, 3 especially because you are an expert on all the customs as well as the controversies among the Jews. Therefore, I beg you to hear me patiently.”

And yet who was Agrippa? 

He was a descendant of the family that killed the children around Bethlehem, He a descendant of family that had John the Baptist killed. His father persecuted Christians and had James killed.

As to Agrippa himself, It was widely rumored that Agrippa carried on an incestuous relationship with his sister Bernice prior to her marriage to the king of Cilicia. (Jewish Antiquities, by F. Josephus, XX, 145, 146 [vii, 3]) 

When it became evident that the Jews’ rebellion against the Roman yoke (66-70 C.E.) would only spell national disaster, Agrippa tried to persuade them to take a more moderate course. His appeals being of no avail, he forsook the Jews and attached himself to the Roman army, getting wounded by a sling stone in the actual fighting.

To criticize Rutherford with a letter taken out of historical context, would be similar to criticizing Paul in appealing to Caesar for justice.

The 'Caesar' Paul appealed to would have been Nero, who ruled from 54-68 C.E.

Nero would have also been the Caesar, Paul told Christians to be obedient to.

To slander Rutherford, only shows how much to don't know about Jehovah's Witnesses nor God's word.

What Annsan forgot to mention, is the fact that most people know about the 6 million Jews and the other groups of people who died by the hands of the Nazis.

What she forgot to mention is the fact that most people don't know of the suffering of Jehovah's Witnesses by the Nazis.

What she also didn't mention is, even though the world was at war, in both the Axis Nations and the Allied Nations, Jehovah's Witnesses were being thrown in prisons and concentration camps.

Most people are surprised to learn that Jehovah's Witnesses were in the concentration camps a year before the Jews arrived.

Here is what one Jew who survived said about Jehovah's people.

  The book Between Resistance and Martyrdom—Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Third Reich relates the comments of a young Jewish prisoner, in which he describes his first encounter with Jehovah’s Witnesses after he arrived at the Neuengamme concentration camp:

  “As soon as we Jews from Dachau came into the block, the other Jews began to hide everything they had so that they would not have to share with us. . . . Outside [of the concentration camp], we had been there for one another. But here, in a situation of life and death, everybody’s first concern is to save himself, forgetting about the others. But imagine what the Bible Students were doing. At that time, they had to work very hard, repairing some water pipes. The weather was cold and they were standing all day long in ice-cold water. Nobody understood how they could endure this. They said Jehovah gives them the strength. They needed their bread desperately, just like we, because they were hungry. But what were they doing? They collected all the bread they had, took half of it for themselves, and the other half they gave to their fellow believers who had just arrived from Dachau. And they welcomed them and kissed them. Before they ate, they prayed. Afterwards, they all were satisfied and happy. They said that they were no longer hungry. You see, that is when I thought: These are the true Christians.”

Jehovah's Witnesses do not deny nor do we belittle the experiences of all who died under the Nazis.

The question is why do others strive to belittle what Jehovah's Witnesses did?

The Nazis were smart and didn't open the door when they knocked.

Poorly.  They were among the groups that the Nazis put into death camps and exterminated, along with dissidents, homosexuals, gypsies, communists and intellectuals.

They were rounded up and put in concentration camps.  The badge they had to wear was a purple triangle.

German Jehovah’s Witnesses, non-Witness sources have reported that some 10,000 were imprisoned and more than two thousand perished in concentration camps.

The Holocaust is not to be regarded, therefore, as an assault on the Jews alone. Hitler was determined to exterminate any group of people that did not bow to his doctrine of Aryan superiority.

 Jehovah’s Witnesses were included because they believed and applied the Bible principle at Acts 17:26, 27

They suffered dreadfully under the Nazis who tried to destroy that tiny little religious group. If you read their web-site on it, you will get stats and details, but notice how virtually no mention is made of all the millions of others who were treated as badly, or worse. That's telling. That's why JWs never say anything about those 6 million Jews, or the gypsies, or the homosexuals. To listen to JWs, they were the real object of attack and no other group really mattered.

They were shunned.  Ironic, huh?

The Nazis claimed they would exterminate them. In Germany under the Nazi regime, Jehovah’s Witnesses refused to heil Hitler, and they maintained neutrality on political and military issues. So the Nazis cruelly persecuted them, incarcerating some 12,000 Witnesses for varying lengths of time in prisons and concentration camps. About 2,000 of them died, hundreds being executed.
