Is this a good reason to switch doctors?

My current obgyn will not prescribe a medicine that I feel will help me become pregnant (clomid) .. he knows my history of having a previous ectopic (I lost my left tube) and irregular periods since. I also dont feel as I ovulate well on my own. He feels as I should jump straight into IUI or something more invasive.. but I dont want to do that just yet. I want to try clomid and for some reason he just wont prescibe it. I honestly feel as though it will help me alot! And if I am monitored with ultrasounds I can see if I have been ovulating from my good side . and if pregnancy will be possibly in a more natural way. I dont think he understands my concerns.. and this will be my second time asking for the prescription, if he denies me Im planning to switch to another obyn who will better assist me in starting my family. Do you think this is a good reason or am I over reacting?

Yes, perfect reason. I went to my family doc after TTC for 6 months the first time. I have a family and personal history of menstrual and reproductive problems, and as such, the recommended time for TTC is 6 months beefore seeking assistance.

'Lose weight and you'll get pregnant.'

Now, i don't deny that i am o/weight. However, after TTC for 20 months i finally went to a different doc who said 'i don't do baby stuff' and sent me to a specialist. Within three months of being diagnosed with PCOS, i had managed to lose 10kgs with the use of metformin and i fell pregnant.

If that stupid woman had sent me to a specialist when i asked...

Anyway. She was wrong, having PCOS it is VERY hard to lose weight on your own, and also losing weight doesn't guarantee that you will ovulate etc. So she was wrong.

It is perfectly sensible of you to try the least invasive thing first, and i would think it'd be a good thing to see if your ovary is ovulating for you. Idiot doctor.

yes, that is a very good reason to switch. My sister has been trying to have kids for over 6 years now. She has done all the process and the doctor told her she was ovulating just fine, but still ontop of that he perscribed her clomid just to see if that would help. So, if your doctor is not doing everything he can to help you get what you want I think you should be seeing somebody else.

You sound to me as though you are wanting to tell him what you need and he isn't listening. Definitely get a second opinion but be patient and know these people are professionals. Make sure you write down what they tell you about why they won't do something or ask more questions so that you understand their reasoning. After all they are the professionals.
