Anyone have any experience with sudden hearing loss and dementia?
My father has lewy body dementia. While he was having hallucinations, he suddeniy lost his hearing. His hearing did not return after the hallucinations stopped. Does anyone on here have an experience with sudden hearing loss in someone who has dementia. He is under doctor's care so I do not need suggestions to see a doctor. Has anyone had any experience with this situation? Thanks for any input.

My great grandmother has dementia, but she hasnt had any sudden hearing loss to go with it.She just forgets a lot of stuff like cleaning up her home.So we have to do a lot of this for her.We also told her to stop driving as well. She also said things like that doll just moved,so it seems she does have hallucinations.
She repeats questions she already asked. She takes some medcine for it, but its said that it doesnt cure the dementia. With the hear loss probelm, I dont really know what to tell you, but maybe speaking louder or getting a hearing aid for him.Maybe he should go back to the doctor and talk to the doctor about it.I know what your going through with this, and may God bless you and your father.
In tinnitus, the sounds a person hears are actually perceptions. Since there's no actual source, they are often referred to as "phantom noises". I read that about 8% of all people in the US suffer from tinnitus so you are not the only one who hears these strange noises.
Tinnitus is actually not a disease. It is actually a symptom of a problem that is rooted deep, somewhere within your body. The problem could be a simple one like an infection in the ear, or even simpler, such as ear wax. Just clear the wax and get the infection treated, and the noises could go away. In some people, it could even be the result of a side-effect of a drug they took. Or it could be more complicated.
