A friend was telling me about a travel show that showed castles in Scotland that were made of stone but at some point the stone turned to glass due to extreme heat. Any one ever here of these and if so where are they located?

I believe you were told this, but I am really confused. The temperature needed to create Glass is about 3600 Deg F (1982 deg C). No where in the world does it get that hot- we would all be dead if it did.
So I did a search and came across this: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=glass+castkes+in+Scotalnd&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a
Very interesting- Lighting strikes! Wow!
i cannot find anything about Glass Castles and I admit I have never heard of them until now.
I have been to Scotland many times and my husband used to live there. Neither of us have heard, or read, anything about a castle that turned to glass...I think someone is telling you porky pies (lies) as in pulling your leg...
