What changes will occur when someone have their left colon removed due to a large Polyp in the intestine?

A Family member whom I love had the left colon removed during surgery, because of a large polyp. I am very concern about the changes my love one may experience, because of this. What will occur since my love one had to have this done?

Loose stools, due to less colon to reabsorb liquids, is my main problem after having the left 50% of the transverse and the upper 50% of the descending colon removed due to colon cancer.

Appetite is good and am gaining weight back.

well, if the colon was removed completely, for example, then they have no mechanism to poop anymore, so what happens is they have a hole in their stomach, and then a plastic bag is attached. poop goes into the bag. this means that the person has to walk around with a bag to collect their poop.
pretty horrifying

I'm not sure, but since it get's smaller... the person will probably need to poop more often (because the space is reduced, lol)
