I want to get a puppy. My mom says that it has to be small and can't shed a lot. I want to get a french bulldog but they are really expensive and their is not a lot in my area. What can I do...any suggestions.

$800 is expensive.. I would rather pay $100-$250. My local shelter has no puppies at all. I have had bad experiences with min. schnauzer. I have looked on pet finder and found 1 puppy I like but he is 3 hours away in Indiana. I was considering a shih tzu. Any more suggestions.

French Bulldogs are really expensive and they shed a lot. I suggest you get a Miniature Schnauzer because they are one of the only dog breeds that aren't expensive and are very common in the United States. You can find at least one breeder in every state. They are small, playful, very intelligent, and barely even shed.
Look into the Min. Schnauzer breed. They are a great small dog, easy to train and love play and be with family. Have had three in the past. Like any dog they do need socializing and training. Because of their size not a dog to be left on its own outdoors. They do need to be groomed. Good luck on your hunt.
shelters have a lot of cute puppies :)!! at least give that a shot! :) chihuahuas are awesome but do tend to get barky, poodles are good too there are three diff sizes !!! they are smart and dont shed!! they learn fast too, but you need to groom them at least once a month,sometimes exp,, do research on caring for dogs before you end up in a bad situation!! because you couldnt train properly!! read first !! remember its not the dogs fault, they need to be trained :)
I think that a good breed of dog to get is an lhasa apso as they make great household pets and work well with kids. They dont shed and are very small but you have to groom and cut their hair alot as it can get very long.
