Will carrying my MacBook too much hurt it?

I'm carrying my 15" MacBook Pro with me all throughout college in my backpack (which has a special compartment for laptops). It has no solid state hard drive, just the standard one. Will carrying my Mac around too much hurt it? Will it give it unnecessary wear? Thanks, and evidence/personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Things without feelings can be "hurt," DR Tech, as "hurt" doesn't necessitate the object (grammatically speaking) having emotions. Although I applaud your attempt to school others in English, as a writer and English Major, I can assure you that I used the word perfectly well.

Being snarky myself, I can only blame myself for finding it, if perhaps falsely, in others. I suppose that's the danger of the internet: misunderstandings. Regardless, I'm glad to see most people haven't had problems. I just keep finding my Mac starting up weirdly, ending up in a white screen on startup (once), and freezing (once), all in a matter of 4 start ups.

If you can't carry a laptop, then what good is it? Carrying it will not hurt it - dropping it will.

Ideally you should keep it in a laptop sleeve inside your backpack. These offer a little extra cushioning and prevent scratches on the case. But as the other person mentioned, laptops are ment to be carried around. Your also lucky the laptops don't have feelings, hence they cannot get hurt. Otherwise I am sure it would complain being carried around all day inside a dark, enclosed backpack. What would happen if the Laptop was claustrophobic and could talk? You would never hear the end of it.

Edit:
I had no intention of schooling you in English. Whats the harm in adding a little fun to an answer? Hurt of course is perfectly acceptable usage, as it does mean "To cause Physical Injury" when used as a noun and I am sure that is what you meant.

I have carried my laptop with me to class (I also have a backpack with a laptop compartment) and I have never had a problem with it. If you want to be extra careful, why don't you slip the Macbook into one of those neoprene laptop sleeves and then insert that in the backpack section. I think you will be okay though. Best wishes for a successful Fall 2011 semester and to everyone!!!
