Who is really responsible for creating the nations debt?
Considering the House of Representatives are really the ones in control of the US budget and spending, shouldn't we be blaming whoever controlled the House for the budget problems?
Looking at a chart of which party controlled the House and when, you will see that the Dems dominated the House of Representatives from 1949, until 1995. This would mean the House Democrats own the debt all the way up until Clinton was already in office. Then it looks like the Republicans finally won the House in 1995 and then created the Clinton Surplus and held it until Dems took back over in 2007 under Bush's second term. Oddly enough it was the end of 2007 (after the Dems held the House for a year) when the economy died and the recession hit. Coincidence?
So will the Democrats now own up to the fact that them being in control of the House is what has really caused the national debt to skyrocket?

Well, you should add that the crisis in 2008 was caused by the subprime mortgage bubble created by clinton, http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html
and that the Dems in the house were protecting so well their "vote market", that Barney Franks LIED just one month before Freddie and Fannie bankrupt... http://digg.com/news/story/Barney_Frank_Freddie_Mac_Fannie_Mae_fundamentally_sound
for the rest, i agree with you

The democrats will never admit they caused this mess. Just like when GW tried to fix Fannie and Freddie the dems Progressives went nuts and they all called him a racist. But who is the real racist LOL
They are the ones responsible for this whole mess, as you stated they were in control until 1995 and was that when clinton balanced the budget??? MMM makes you think. Then they took over in 2007 and look at the mess they made. So when obozo says they drove the car off the cliff, lets look at who stole the car first.
The real answer is ALL OF US. How many voters howled in protest over the years as their representatives brought pork projects home to their districts? How many ranchers and farmers complained and refused to accept the Ag subsidies their reps handed them? How many corporations and wealthy citizens did not take the tax breaks provided to them by Congress?
It is not a DEM vs. GOP debt, it is a USA GREED debt.
Literally every American. When the US broke away from Britain, we still had a debt of a few billion dollars (to fund the war and establish the country).
definite that's a solid theory, no it is going to in no way ensue because of the fact ALL Politicians like to spend no count what social gathering they are area of. Edit: To make any sizeable effect at paying it off we could desire to cut back spending AND get rid of Tax cuts and Loop holes.
