Roman is very much a boys' name.

For a girl choose Romany or Roma.

Or maybe she would like these:

Rawnie - a Roman Gypsy name meaning 'lady'.
Gypsy - Romany people were called Gypsys (from Egypt)
Rowena
Rowanne
Rhoswen - Welsh for white rose
Ramona or Ramoena or Romona - feminine of Ramond.

Roman Girl Names

Well I don't like the name at all but it is definitely a boys name. There is nothing feminine about it. An on the rise boys name meaning if a girl has that name she more than likely will meet many boys with that name. It is already in the top 200 boys names but is NOT EVER a girl's name. Your friend is crazy. She's having a girl, so she needs to deal with it and give a girls name. If she likes Roman so much save it for a boy or use something similar but that is a girl name like Romy or Romilda.

Boy, I don't like it on a girl at all.

Now Rowan is cute on a girl, even though I prefer that on a boy too, but it works better on a girl than Roman does IMHO.
