I'm kind of partial to "Defence of Fort McHenry". It retells a defining moment the independence of the United States. While the Bates/Ward song is patriotic and beautiful, the same could be said for "God Bless America (Berlin)" and "This Land Is Your Land (Guthrie)"
... the country wasn't won by pretty flowers and expansive vistas.
