My husband and I will be visiting Omaha Labor Day weekend and are looking for some great local restaurants (no chain restaurants please). We are open to anything, we love great Mexican food, a great burger, pizza, Italian....etc. We are up for fine dining or a total dive. Any recommendations?

M's Pub in Old Market is one of the best restaurants in the country. - my sister a foodie from Las Vegas goes to Omaha for work and plans her entire trip around this restaurant. - I have eaten here, I enjoy good food too and I'm from Los Angeles so I know good food and I would recommend it.
Wheatfields is really yummy for coffee/treats or breakfast or a normal kind of lunch.
There is also a little french bistro in the Old Market area right across from Upstream Brewery that my sister enjoys. - I have not been here but it looks good.
Upstream Brewery use to be REALLY good. My sister warned me is was no longer. I went anyway and hated it. Just warning you to stay away!!
Sebastian Brothers is suppose to be a great place. It is in a very strange location but the night we attempted to go it was completely booked up.
My cousin really likes Grandmothers for their deep fried grill cheese. She dreams of it. I went with her. For me, it was one of those of those things you have to try once but once, was enough.
About 45 minutes south of Omaha in Nebraska City is the Arbor Day Farm. It was a very very enjoyable afternoon that we spent there. We don't have kids and still would recommend it to people. Super well kept up. AND they have great apple pie.
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant is the finest restaurant that should be served, and that is with the freshest ingredients, the finest wines, and in a family type atmosphere where we feel right at home while we enjoy the company of our family and friends. Located at Olive Garden Omaha - Old Cross Roads Mall
