5 or 6 years doesn't seem like its far apart until you start talking about teens. Then it's a world of difference. I agree with everyone in thinking that you a bit old for her at the moment. Most people raise their eyebrows at relationships that look wrong because often times there is some form of wrongdoing involved. If your parents are okay with each other, then that's your business. people look down on that because of the fact that you are an adult and she is still technically a child. They don't know about the relationship you have with her and most people judge others only by what they see in front of them. You're not at fault. People don't know your background together and will often judge on first sights. What they see is a twenty year old man and a young girl, you can see how they jump to conclusions.
