Republicans want to eliminate FEMA taking the federal gov out of the emergency response business.?

They will make states responsible for the floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc occuring in that state. Good idea for saving money or not?

Great idea. Let everyone fend for themselves! Screw organized society, what has it ever done for anybody except create more wealth than the world has ever seen? Just give me some guns and a mountain to hold up on...

EDIT: "Smart Guy" So if your house burnt down but the insurer was in debt, it's ok for the insurer to just not pay? That would solve the insurers problem wouldn't it?

"Republicans want to eliminate FEMA taking the federal gov out of the emergency response business.?"

False. Doing a google search shows a bunch of different things the GOP wants to do. some wants to cut the FEMA budget, some want to increase it. But with the exception of ron Paul, there is no talk about eliminating it.

Hellllllloooooo? Anybody home? States ARE responsible for natural disasters in their respective states. FEMA's job is to come in after the fact to provide resources to help out. And states do a better job since they know better where their resources are needed and for what. With the Federal government, it plays political favorites.

"Already the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is being accused of diverting money away from Republican districts that were devastated by tornadoes and other natural disasters to help Democratic areas, particularly in New York and Vermont"

I hadn't heard anything like this, but it would seem to make sense to administer aid more locally and reduce the size and scope of the federal government...I could certainly understand the concept behind something like this.

I could see fixing FEMA so that we filter more of our aid directly to the States or through the Red Cross. You do realize that there is only two ways FEMA does anything either overkill or not enough.

Do you even know what FEMA does....

They are a huge warehouse that provides resources.

Trailers, food, stuff...

Do we need a huge agency for that..

Or would it be better managed and less expensibe another way

It's worth a discussion
