Moonroof fans - are they worth it? I have always wanted a car with a moonroof. Help?

I live in Illinois - so I am not sure how often I will be able to take advantage of it. Heat of summer, I'd have on the air conditioning - and in the winter, it would simply be like having a window. In our climate, not sure how often I 'll actually be able to use it for the money I'm spending to get that option. Your opinion?

I'm only 5' so headroom isn't an issue. ;)

moonroofs really compromise the headroom for me, as I am 6'4. But having that window up there is awesome! I never open it to the outside, but I have the thing open a lot so I can see through it.
Cars without moonroof seem depressing now.

It is a tough decision for me. If I was shorter, or had plenty of headroom either way, I'd definitely go for the moonroof.
As for the cost? See what your alternative options are for the same cost, such as other features, etc...
It sounds to me like the moonroof is what you want most, or it wouldn't be what you are asking for.
And don't be all like 'well lets just save the money' because you'll be driving this thing for a very long time and you are stuck with what you get, so don't get what you regret!
My car has leather and a moonroof, 2 things I definitely did NOT want in any car. Leather makes you slide when you corner hard and the moonroof reduces headroom for me too much.
But the seats in the car have enough support that I still don't slide, and I still have enough headroom(tho it's close and over bumps my head hits the ceiling lol)
