I owe my Canadian spelling to my friend GayCanuck :D My sophomore year starts tomorrow! aka honors class load, model UN, and Pep band (I'm THAT kid). I'm super pumped, one year closer to Chicago/Boston (hav to have a backup!). Anywho, some hockey questions :) 1. If Crosby comes back and plays like his old self, do you believe there will be a league wide retirement of 87 like Gretzky? 2. How was your labor day? 3. If you had to choose an ABBA song to be your goal song, what would you choose? (be creative!) 4. Has Bettmen done anything positive for the league? 5. When Washington bummed out in the second round, did they posses the same traits they had when they claimed victory over the Rags? 6. What type of shoe is Don Cherry?(amuse me!) 7. Would you take a Chara slap shot directly to your most sensitive area, naked, for 1 billion dollars? 8. Why wouldn't you wear a jock strap when playing a contact sport? just curious... 9. Least favorite player in your favorite position? 10. Would you ever want Chris Pronger on your team? BQ* What's worst first day of school ever? thanks! 1. I think there's a definite possibility 2. Awesome! I went on a little 3.5 mile hike with my dad, we were going to go farther but it started raining :( then I took a shower, added a new blog post, and ate noms. Very productive 3. Dancing Queen, I feel like Ovie would dance to it and I would laugh :P 4. Move a team back to Canada? 5. Tell me what you think, and IT'S NOT THE DAMN GOALIES! if you say that you don't know what your talking about. 6. hit me with your best shot 7. Nope, I like my Chiquia's. 8. I don't posses the qualities to need a jock strap, so can't say 9. Dwayne Roloson. He has dentures and depends, get him outta there! (may have something to do with him knocking us out of the Playoffs...) 10. Maybe, depends on what our roster looked like.

1) No. First of all, GRETZKY shouldn't have his number retired league wide. Was he great? Yes. Should teams he played for retire his number? If they want. But league-wide retirement is silly. It was one thing in baseball for Jackie Robinson's number, because he broke the color barrier, but in all honesty, 99 means nothing to most teams. So, no, Crosby's shouldn't be retired.
2) Fine. Got some work done, watching college football now.
3) Not a huge ABBA fan, but I guess Money, Money, Money, Mamma Mia, or Winner Takes All would work for Nick Backstrom (Swede)
4) Absolutely. He's done a lot to spread the sport, bring in new fans, get it on TV, make money, and increase the popularity of the game world-wide
5) No. Once Knuble went down, they lost the ability to get to the net, and Mike Green being hurt hurt depth on the blue line (with both him and Wideman out, there were really no puck-moving defenders left other than Carlson), and the pressure finally hit Neuvirth a bit
6) Those ugly bowling shoes that nobody likes, but never seem to go away. (The only thing dumber than many of his opinions is his fashion sense)
7) For that much, absolutely
8) Can be uncomfortable
9) Cooke and Avery (I just happen to like left wing)
10) Absolutely. The guy's a great player. If this was 3-4 years ago, anyone saying no would be lying, but he's still a solid guy.
BQ* NOt my first day, but my first week of college, the school shut down to evacuate for Hurricane Gustav
1. If Crosby comes back and plays like his old self, do you believe there will be a league wide retirement of 87 like Gretzky? Haha no, their will NEVER be another Gretzky. 2. How was your labor day? Good. I spent it with my girlfriend and son. 3. If you had to choose an ABBA song to be your goal song, what would you choose? (be creative!) None. 4. Has Bettmen done anything positive for the league? Yes, quite a bit actually. He has increased TV ratings, made the game more exciting to watch. The list goes on. 5. When Washington bummed out in the second round, did they posses the same traits they had when they claimed victory over the Rags? No. 6. What type of shoe is Don Cherry?(amuse me!) A colorful croc. 7. Would you take a Chara slap shot directly to your most sensitive area, naked, for 1 billion dollars? Yes. 8. Why wouldn't you wear a jock strap when playing a contact sport? just curious... I always did wear a cup. 9. Least favorite player in your favorite position? Karl Alzner lol jk Duncan Keith. 10. Would you ever want Chris Pronger on your team? He was on the Blues for 10 years. BQ* What's worst first day of school ever? Senior year. I was really sick but still went. Bad move.
Hey I start school tomorrow too. It sucks. Gonna be a senior though so that's a plus. 1. If Crosby comes back and plays like his old self, do you believe there will be a league wide retirement of 87 like Gretzky? No, Crosby will never be as good as Gretzky. Getting 90+ goals in a season is nearly impossible. 2. How was your labor day. Rainy :( so my family BBQ was kinda ruined but it was ok. 3. If you had to choose an ABBA song to be your goal song, what would you choose? (be creative!) I honestly can't name any ABBA songs besides Dancing Queen. lol. 4. Has Bettmen done anything positive for the league? I think he has increased the popularite of hockey. 5. When Washington bummed out in the second round, did they posses the same traits they had when they claimed victory over the Rags? No, they choked. 6. What type of shoe is Don Cherry?(amuse me!) An obnoxious one 7. Would you take a Chara slap shot directly to your most sensitive area, naked, for 1 billion dollars? I guess so. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pay for college, so I'd be taken care of! 8. Why wouldn't you wear a jock strap when playing a contact sport? just curious... I'm a girl... 9. Least favorite player in your favorite position? I don't have a favorite position but my least favorite player is Carcillo. 10. Would you ever want Chris Pronger on your team? No BQ* What's worst first day of school ever? thanks! I've never had a really bad first day of school.
1. No. Defending and goaltending is so much better in today's era that Crosby will not dominate like Gretzky did. He was about as hot as could be during the first half of last season, but there is no reason to believe that he will return that way. He will be great, but will not be on a level all by himself.
2. Glad I had no class. That made it so much better.
3. Waterloo. I love the saxophone part in it.
4. Yes. He has made the league as profitable as it has been in years. People criticize him for moving teams out of Canada and trying to expand down south, but as a businessman, the only blemish on his record is the lockout, which wasn't all his fault. He knows what he's doing, but public perception is something that he will probably never overcome.
5. Yes, but unfortunately, they caught Tampa at the wrong time. They coming off hot after beating the Pens. Another thing that hindered the Caps was scoring. They didn't need too much scoring to beat the Rangers, but against the Lightning, they couldn't muster up any offense.
7. Yep. For a billion dollars, I'd do pretty much anything.
8. It is uncomfortable. I played four years of high school football without wearing a cup. Never got hit there once.
9. Well, I could cop out and say Crosby, but I don't really hate him. However, I highly dislike Max Talbot.
10. Sure, why not? He's better than half of the Caps' defenseman right now.
BQ: My worst first day of school was the first day of my freshman year of college because I had classes ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and I forgot my umbrella at home and got rained on all day. Plus my laptop wouldn't connect to the internet so I had nothing to do in between my classes.
