Wow, I've looked at nearly EVERY pet shop near our city but I cannot find anyone selling a fancy rat! They sell mice, however. I really do want to take care of rats, teach them tricks and stuff. I've been taking care of hamsters for years, but I eventually got bored of them :(
If I buy mice, would they behave the same way as rats?

unfortunately, mice are not the same as rats. in my opinion, rats have more personality, are far more smart etc. Rats are overall, better! Check online for breeders in your area. There are tons of ratteries all over the country! hope this helped. :)

If I was you I would wait to find the perfect rat. You should look online and find some breeders in your area or check out some classifieds. You want a great companion rat and mice just aren't the same.

Rats are more intelligent. Find a breeder or get a rescue rat. Mice are lovely though, if you can't find a rescue or breeder.

Buying a mouse won't be the same as getting a rat. Rats are far better.

Mice are dumb and they stink. Rats are clean, friendly and intelligent. If you can't find any in the pet shops, look into pet rescue centres instead.
