I was reading this guide on backing up XBOX 360 games at http://www.thegamedraw.com/how-to-burn-xbox-360-games-burning-xbox-360-games-backup-xbox-360-games/ and get the basic gist of the process. But i was wondering if this can actually be done and what HD-DVD discs would be right for the job?

While, by the legal letter of the law, you are allowed to make copies of digital content for personal backup purposes...
In the case of the Xbox 360 there really is no such thing as a legal backup. This is because the console has implemented in it a digital rights protection process that is illegal to circumvent. The only way to play a "backup" copy of a game is to mod your console and circumvent that digital rights protection. That is a violation of the DMCA and U.S. Copyright laws.
Attempt this and you will get permanently banned from Live and will be breaking the law. Folks argue this all the time but it has already been proven in the courts.
