"saving the car companys"?

was it really saving the unions? why didn't the government save packard or hupmobile or rambler or Studebaker?

Sorry but I disagree with that. 1 out of every 10 people work in the auto industry. Weather it is a mechanic or someone selling parts or insurance, tires and the list goes on and on. And NONE of those jobs are union.

I think the car companies were bailed out to not only save the industry, but jobs, and more. Like dignity, and sometimes we need a little help to get over that bump. Most of the bail out money has been returned, and the companies are now profitable.

Because there wasn't the political motivation to do so.

Every automaker should have gone bankrupt and been purchased at pennies on the dollar by investors. That is how stimulus works.

Pinocchio up there is correct. It wouldn't just affect those building the cars it would affect everything that has to do with them.
