Would you ever consider going away from it all to live a more simpler, happier life?
I saw this graph and it caught my attention. It shows how often we use the words "happiness" and "stress" in books, articles, scientific literature, etc. from year 1800 to 2000. Very interesting:

Happiness? not necessarily.. more like separation from Nature. I think that is the price we have paid for civilization. I would if I could go out and live in solitude in the woods.. but I cannot do so unless I own the land, and for that you need money..
I wish I could just be free to go make a home anywhere out in the forest.. and live there with the land.. instead of against it as civilization stands..
Our society, laws and establishments do not allow us to be free, and live as we once did.. a part of Nature... freely, without ownership required.
But living with Nature isn't all happiness.. it's a lot harder way of life than most of us are used to. With the way people are today many would not have the skills or inclination to even bother trying. Nature is cruel, and you must work hard to survive, but you become much stronger and more able than you ever could in any civilized environment. There is wisdom a life close to nature imparts that is sadly lacking in today's societies... Look how easy most jobs are, you don't have to hunt and farm and build everything you need on your own.. you do something else to earn money to buy those things from other people who put the effort into it.. and with all of our technology it's not even hard labor anymore really. Machinery, factories etc.. all computer automated.
There was a time when people had to learn the laws of life as nature threw them at us.. We had to learn to live with nature, to respect it's whims and know it's secrets.. We learned nature was merciful and bountiful as well as meager and merciless.. but always in balance, and if we lived in harmony with that knowledge... We could know no greater happiness than being one with existence as a whole.. It was simpler then.. Nature gives with one hand and takes with the other... In our civilization today, we have forgotten that.. all we know how to do is take.. and we won't stop to foresee and accept the consequences. We create an imbalance.. and nature will correct that imbalance.. mercilessly.
I don't know if it will happen in my lifetime, but at some point we have to forsake civilization and go back to the earth where we belong.. or perish. We cannot sustain our ways as they are. We take too much without giving in return..
it does. i want to live like an animalistic brute. nothing would give me greater pleasure than complete and utter freedom.
ever sat in a cramped office or classroom or suburban house and looked out the window at the bright lights downtown or the blue sky and white clouds or the fresh greenery and longed for the wilderness? i know i have. i'd love to be liberated.
when i'm older and have enough money, i'm gonna go live in the golden wheat & wine peasant fields in Sicily. la dolce vita!
It takes a lot of hard work to have a great civilization, and it wasn't always jolly. I'd like to live a simpler happier life sometimes. I'd actually like to live in the Shire. (Inner nerd in me).
