I have to run a mile and 1/2 tomorrow under 17:30. I have trouble pacing myself, and i always barely make it by 17:00. When i run for a long period of time, my heart beats really fast to the point where it hurts a lot. Im not overweight or anything, but im definitely not fit. I hate running like this, is there any way i can do better tomorrow? I try my best to run, but my legs give in. Others are a lot better at running, and i feel discouraged.

dont be discouraged, alot of people have this problem, including myself. this is what i do when i run: i pick an object across the track, and stare at it when i run. i focus on that object, and ONLY that object, and i try to not think about myself actually running. and i know you just said you have to run tomorrow, but if you keep practicing running every day, your heart will get used to it and you wont run out of breath so easily :)
I don't know of anything that will help you run faster by tomorrow. It sounds like you aren't in very good shape, or your heart wouldn't be beating out of your chest. Drink plenty of water tonight. I'm in the Army, and couldn't run when I started, but now I run 2 miles in 12:50. I've seen guys try to take caffeine, hydroxycut, no-xplode before their runs. The only thing that happened was they felt like having a heart attack and threw up. Don't do it. If you want to improve by next time, try these. They worked for me.
Do some 30-60's and work up to 60-120's. A 30-60 means you sprint as fast as you can for 30 seconds, then a slow jog for 60. Repeat until you're toast. Do it 2-3 times a week.
Im 11 so i might not be as much help as the ther peoples answers, but if you want to run faster than a 17:30 mile and a 1/2 then you need to practice alot more. I run 6:30 miles because I practice ALOT more than my other team mates. Anyway, if you want to go faster, than pace yourself, and once you have about 100 yards left, then start sprinting.
You have.. trouble.. running a mile and a half in... seventeen minutes and thirty seconds.........?
America has no future..
But, serious advice.. Eat a large plate of Spaghetti for breakfast the morning of the run. No sauce, no cheese. Start your run behind a well-paced fast person, and follow this person closely for a lap. After the first lap, find the closest fat kid, follow said fat kid for half a lap. Now run a whole lap. Follow Fat kid. Run. Follow. Finish off with a run, so your coach doesn't think your pathetic for drafting off the fatties.
Stop being a pus, you're not going to have a heart attack. Your heart is supposed to beat faster.. herpderp. Push through it. Your legs are supposed to hurt as well.. Stop being a pus..
Sounds like you need to improve your wind and learn to control your breathing. Remember that it is better to maintain a constant rate of speed throughout the run rather than speeding up and slowing down. Since you can't improve your wind overnight, try pacing yourself by breathing in time with your steps. Breathe deeply through your nose for four steps, then exhale through your nose for four steps. If you feel the need to pant to manage your breath, increase the number of steps you take on inhale/exhale (inhale over 5 or 6 steps, exhale over 5 or 6 steps). Resist the urge to breathe through your mouth in gasps. Start your run slow and keep an eye on your time; that way if you're a little slow you'll have the energy to speed it up if necessary. Make sure you keep good form while running too; excessive or incorrect arm and leg movements will tire you needlessly.
