i had gestational diabeties and i was given a machine to test my sugar and summoned to the hospital every week to check my daily readings, i didnt feel any different because my sugar seemed to be okay it was around 5 before food and 6 after only on some days would it reach 7-8 but i managed to cut out the food that was causing me problems.
i had to go to a nutrition class where they told me to have a fibre filled cereal for breaakfast and eat no carbs after 5pm but i could eat plenty of protein.
i was okay and delivered a healthy 6lb baby, surprisingly they told me i would have a massive baby.
my mum is diabetic so i thought i was going to have it permanently but they tested me again 3 months after my labor and i was fine.
good luck - the test itself and the glucose drink is awful - take some food with you to have after the test is done you will be starving.
i did i with my 2nd baby they did it a week before i had bub and they come back very bad i felt normally like there was nothing wrong with me they said it would do that but if i have bad sugar levels could mean bub could be born with it, or effect them later on in life, my baby come out fine she is 9 mths now they tested her when she was first born for the first 24 hours, just got to eat healthy no drugs or anything my patner has diabetes, so i knew everything i had to do anyway good luck don't worry i cryed when i found out i had it then once i got it all worked out it was fine even tho i only had i for i week
