HP P1006 Printer Help?

I have a desktop running xp with an HP P1006 Laser jet printer that I am having problems with. I have been using it for about 2 years now and all a sudden it quit printing midway through a print job. I unistalled the software and reinstalled it, still nothing. I put another brand new p1006 on the computer and reinstalled all the software with the cdrom, still nothing. I put a brand new canon printer on the computer, still nothing. I tried a brand new usb cable and power cable, still nothing. in my properties its listed a default and online and all the settings are correct. I downloaded the driver update as well. It is not printing a test page either. I am stumped anyone have any advise.

That is a fussy printer. You need to install these printers without connecting it to the computer. Just power it on and begin the setup.

Let the software tell you when to re-connect the printer to the computer. Let it finish setup, reboot and windows / MAC will find it immediately. Look on the desktop for the HP icon. Click it and you are set.
