I wish my answer was fiscal issues, I really do. But, the GOP threatens our Constitution, our Bill of Rights and the fundamental reliance on the individual that has made this country great. GOP = government interference in our most private decisions. Ban birth control? What year is it, 1200?
So, unfortunately, in order to preserve our freedom, your answer is social issues and I will be voting against the GOP.

Fiscal issues.
Most of these social issues are to distractions for the media. Why talk about how their policies are alike the ones that got our economy in such bad shape to begin with, when they can bring up a controversial social issue they would like to fix?

Social issues are always my priority because without a sound, moral society, what value is prosperity? Not that fiscal issues aren't important though. In a lot of ways they go hand in hand.
What I don't want though is a prosperous society of irresponsible brats who have no respect or care for other human beings, unborn babies, animals, society or the environment. For one thing, it can never last.

The financial state of America will drive the social issues.
When America is as bankrupt as Greece our "social issues" will change.
We will be fighting just to have groceries.
We will be fighting just to have a low paying job,
We will be fighting all the cuts coming from the Government just like Greece.
Only ours will be worse because the Government does not supply all we need so their cuts will affect everything from commerce, education, to health care. (rationing)
We will be fighting against martial law controlling the people.

Fiscal issues.
Social issues are an emotional smoke screen used by both parties to distract voters from what is really important. Intelligent voters understand that.
