Is that the Viera series? It is well respected. And plasma does not have motion-blur or poor black levels like most LCD displays. It also has a wider angle of view than most LCD's which may be important if you plan to use it for your family who sit to the side.
The down side of Plasma - highly reflective screens. Windows or lights at the back or side of the room may be visible in a reflection. Look at where you plan to mount the TV for possible problems.
