The first guy was a fail. All you need to do to lose weight is get your metabolism up. Eating regularly will help with that, but when i say regularly i mean healthy stuff. Exercise too, I know you are looking for an easy trick but, there isn't one if you barely eat your metabolism drops like crazy,and the next time you eat you will gain alot of weight because you body wasn't ready to change from eating almost nothing to eating a normal amount so it will all go to fat. All it takes is hard work, dedication, and commitment. Eating regularly (healthy), Exercise, and a high metabolism makes you lose weight, there is no easy way out.

Both. Eating healthy and eating less are both required to lose weight.
