Dog Section: Ever have a case of paw in mouth(foot in mouth)?

Apparently today isn't my day with the designer dog set. Just got back from a lil me time at the nail salon. On my way home, ran into one of my neighbors and commented on what a pretty weim mix she had. Her response: (rather put out at that) "He's a purebred SILVER lab!" Me: Oh....................

And earlier today while at Fetch, to pick up a new bag of Arcana, lady comes in with her two "bulldogs". Same thing, minus the weim comment. "They are purebred bullboxers" i might have given her a look that said she'd just grown a second head.

Anyone else have moments like these lately? Wasn't really a foot in mouth situation, but damn if they didn't look at me like how could I not know what I was looking at.

I don't think I could have prevented saying either..." there's no such THING as Silver Labs according to the national breed club", or ..."there's no such THING as Silver Labs according the AKC Lab breed standard."

Every one of the "SILVER LABS" I've seen, has tons of Weim physical characteristics, - which if you KNOW the breed well and truly KNOW certain details of: ear characterisics, coat shading, eye color, etc, etc. are not typical = of correctly bred, Labs (this aside from the obviously incorrect & extremely recessive silver, coat color).

Who knows, maybe solid color Dals will be next....

Yes. I wasn't face to face though, it was on a Shelter FB site.

So they have this dog down as a BC x Bearded Collie. I commented saying I fail to see any Bearded Collie in the dog at all and looks more Aussie mix.

Well their response? He was an owner surrender who bought the dog as a BC x Bearded Collie, so that's what he is.

-headdesk- So if I surrender a mutt, I can call it whatever mix I like and they'll believe me, when the dog clearly doesn't look like what I say??

Here is the dog in question:

Nope, but had a case of paw-in-eye.
Puppy was jumping around in puppy frantic joy the way they do and managed to push a paw up under my eyelid; I thought he nearly scratched my brain.
That hurt probably about like what you heard.

>>"He's a purebred SILVER lab!"<<
That's why if you manage to buy a German dog they send you the worst dog they can find; since they know someone is just gonna mess it up. I came upon a German dog forum and they were absolutely livid about "silver labs." A dis-service to 2 breeds.

LOL, poor you! I haven't really said anything to offend people, but I've had to try really hard to keep my mouth shut lately.

Example:
Conversation over coffee with friends and their friends (we were talking about our dogs):

Me: Oh, I have a pure-bred Lab.

Friend: Oh, Coco! She's so cute!

Me: Thanks, what kind of dog do you have?

Friend: Oh, a Labradoodle! He's so cute, I love his breed name too!

Me: *Takes a big gulp of coffee to avoid offending people*

Friend 2: Aww, a Labradoodle! I have 2 Cavoodles!

Friend 3: Cute! I have a Maltipoo!

Then everyone asks why I'm so silent, I just replied: "oh, coffee was too hot, burnt my mouth..."

Awkward... I got home and let my anger out on Coco. Don't worry! It was through pegging a ball down the yard for her to chase.
