Canadian and German citizen looking to work in the UK; visa's and job prospects?

I am canadian, I can apply for the UK equivalent of working holiday maker as long as the 5,000/year issued to canada aren't used up. My friend is a German citizen, but has canadian permanent residency, how would this work?
Next, is it difficult to find work? We are both currently working in the resort industry, (groups coordinator and executive housekeeper) and would prefer to find "decent" jobs, as in, PREFER not be to washing dishes for a year.
Lastly, what are some websites or best means of finding said work? Would it be best to go there and apply in person, or start sending resume's early?
Thanks

You already know how you can get in. With a working holiday visa.

Your friend is German, which is part of the EU. All they need to do is go to the UK. No special visa needed.

As for finding a job, look at the jobcentre website. Most employers advertise on here and it covers all of the UK.
