Should Yahoo answers stop cutting points for asking questions?
An intelligent guy also has some questions to ask.
Cutting points only discourages the good habit of asking questions.

Absolutely not!
As they say, knowledge is power so it's only right that people should have to EARN the right to ask questions - and beyond that with the understanding that knowledge is power, people should be rewarding for giving away their knowledge.. This is WHY Yahoo! Answers works.
Yahoo! Answers is a finely tuned application that works because of the points system. It wouldn't work as well if you didn't have points removed for asking questions.
Personally, I ask much more questions than I answer because I enjoy asking questions and I don't really care about the points, however, I can see the logic behind them and it doesn't take a genius to work out that Y!A works because of the points.
You wouldn't get nearly as many people answering questions if they didn't have to EARN the right to ask them by gaining points. By deducting points, it ensures, no, it guarantee's that lots of people will answer questions. It's actually quite a clever little system when you sit down and think about it and this is why I like Yahoo! Answers so much, because it's been carefully thought out and it's not some slap-dash Q&A site like all the others out there.
Of course you will always get some people only answering questions and some people only asking them but you wouldn't get anywhere near the interactivity of Yahoo! Answers without it's points system.
If there is one Q&A concept that is replicated the most it's Yahoo! Answers by miles - This is because the concept works. Even Google couldn't compete and probably wish they done it the same.

No! When you ask a question, and receive helpful answers, you're being provided a service. A deduction of 5 points is supposed to discourage all the stupid questions, joke questions and troll questions. Those questions are still out of hand. I'm thinking it should be 10 points deducted for each question. Deducting 5 points doesn't discourage asking questions. Asking questions shouldn't be a "habit". A habit is something that's excessive, out of control. If people ONLY asked questions when they really needed help with something, there would be fewer people complaining about points being deducted for asking a question. Remember, Y!A isn't a game. There's no need to get crazy over getting or losing points. There's nothing we can do with the points.
I think Y!A should have more control over getting rid of all the silly, pointless questions that aren't in any way asking for help with any kind of problem, instruction, etc. Too many users think this site is a game.

I think it is fair as it is. You loose 5 points to ask a question. but you will get 3 of them back when you select a Best Answer, and paying 2 point can be regained by answering questions

No, It's really no big deal it's just the set up, you get 3 back when you choose best answer.Answer a couple more questions, 2 points for each and you're ahead of the game. It's to encourage you to participate. and cut back on spam It is really no big deal everyone has to go through it. It gets better so hang in there. To check the complete setup and privileges:

Y!A stands for Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Asks. So they need to encourage some people to answer questions in order to keep this site going. I ask very few questions because I can find my own answers by googling.
