is piercing infected or just irritated?

i got my upper ear cartilage pierced 5 days ago.
it didn't hurt, didn't swell, didn't look red, didn't bleed, nothing.
it was like nothing happened to it.
anyway... i've been cleaning it daily and today I wake up and it hurts (for the first time) and is hot. possibly a little inflamed in the back. is it just irritated or starting to get infected?
i do have a stud in the piercing and I feel like maybe the back is maybe getting too tight (even though it's on the very end of the stud)
i have been messing with the piercing more than i should (i know i know....)
what should i do???

It's probably just irritated stop playing with it and keep cleanimg it

Irritated. Try switching to surgical steel piercing (stud or barbell) it is made for surgerys, less chance of infection and irritation. Get yourself an anti - bacterial spray and stop playing with it. Turn it every once in a while though. Btw, I hope it was pierced with a needle not a gun. The guns can shatter you're cartilage bone.

It's probably just a little irritated. Try putting in a semi circular barbell. They are comfier.
