Vietnam Visas for transiting through Hanoi?

Hi. I'm flying from Singapore to Hanoi on Tiger Air, then taking another flight 3 hours later on Laos Air into Laos. The flights were booked separately. It's unclear whether I'll be checking baggage, but regardless, do I need a Vietnamese visa to do this? Travel agent http://www.luckyvietnamvisa.com/ is okie? If I do check baggage, will this affect it (i.e. I'll have to leave the international terminal to "enter" Vietnam to fetch my baggage)?

Thanks al

See http://www.funvietnamvisa.com/ or http://www.yesvietnamvisa.com/ both have low processing fees for pre-approved visa online. The difference in cost between single and multi entry should be about $30USD from these agencies

As soon as you get off the place in Hanoi there is a VISA counter where you can get one right there on the spot if you are required to get one. It is super cheap and fast (took me 10min to get one). You can actually do the same thing in Laos, just bring passport photos. You might be fine since you are not physically leaving the airport. My friend did this with a layover in China while heading to Vietnam (similar to what you are doing just different countries) and she was not required to get a china visa for the lay over. She also only had carry on luggage.

Hi, in case you must leave Vietnam international airport, you need to have Vietnam visa stamped onto passport. As you travel to Vietnam by airway, you should apply online for Vietnam visa approval letter and then use the letter to stamp visa at Vietnam international airport. With a Vietnam visa stamped, you are able to leave the airport to go to the city to get your baggage. To get procedure to apply for Vietnam visa approval letter, you can read at http://evietnamvisa.com/vietnam-visa-approval-letter.html
