So I have to write a 750-1000 word short story for school but can't think of what it should be about
We have been told that it can be a gothic/supernatural story or a story of mistaken identity or one of unrequited love
I think I want to merge gothic and unrequited love but not sure how yet
Please give me some ideas for the plot, any literally!

For mistaken identity, you can have a young boy named Scott Peterson. An ambitious 4th grader who only had one dream, to play in the NBA. But complications arise when his name reminds everyone of the serial killer in the mid 2000s who murdered his pregnant wife. Young Scottie must travel to Canada to lay low for several years, where he ends up making a living as the front-man of a Rush cover band earning $10k a year.
