Anna was tired of the constant rain. Enough was enough. She glided across her room and placed her pale hand against the window. Was it just her, or did she look paler than normal? Water slid like tears down the cold glass. Anna exhaled deeply, fogging up her reflection. She made a fist and hit the window, smudged away the evidence of her dismay, and continued to pace across her wooden floors.
The young woman just wanted to go hunting. She hadn't been in days, and her mood was worsening with the weather. Running her fingers through her hair, she wondered what on Earth had possessed her to cut it so short. She gulped and shook her head, growing weary from all her pacing. She just couldn't seem to stop.
Anna was facing the window again, but a soft bark had her spinning around as quick as she possibly could.
Her hand flew to her chest, "Jebus, Josiah, you scared me," she scolded.
The Australian shepherd just ****** his head to the side, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as his tail wagged happily.
"Oh," she relented. "Come here, baby."
The happy dog slinked into the bedroom and leaned against her leg. His tail was thumping harder as he looked up at her. Anna couldn't help her small smile as she reached down and scratched his head. Josiah barked happily before quickly running off.
"What's gotten into him?" Anna wondered aloud.
She shrugged, then decided to follow him. She almost tripped over him for he was laying at the top of the stairs, looking up at her expectantly.
"Josiah, are you trying to kill me?" Anna scolded, then laughed and sunk to her knees to scratch behind his ears, like she knew he loved so much.
At least he could be happy, even if she couldn't. Josiahs' tail had to be wagging a mile a minute. Anna smiled wider at him.
"Oh, you silly boy."
Suddenly, he was standing up, his hair raised as he growled menacingly. Anna pushed him out of the way and quietly worked her way downstairs. She, for reasons unknown to her, glanced back up at Josiah, and he had laid back down, covering his eyes with his paws.
