A question for the Ron Paul acolytes?

Rep. Paul has admitted that he collects Social Security, despite repeatedly stating that Social Security is unconstitutional, despite continuing to receive his full salary as a member of the US House of Representatives ($174,000 per year) and being independently wealthy (between $1.94 million and $5.23 million excluding real estate.)

So, how do justify this? I thought Rep Paul was the guy for fiscal prudence and cutting expenses? Yet he is taking a check that he had to register for and increasing the drain on the SS Trust Fund. Is Ron Paul a gross hypocrite? Is he a liar? Or are the Paulists just going to try to spin this revelation against somebody else.

Bonus question! How many horrifically spelled death threats will be in my inbox by this time tomorrow?

Well actually since he is "working" so hard to be president, and he is allowed to keep all excesses from his campaign, due to the current political finance laws, he really does not qualify under the income regulations, to get an SSI check right now. Someone should alert the SSI administration to this, and Mr. Paul should reimburse the welfare funds he received in full accordance with the law.

Right now, people of a certain age receive Social Security. Dr. Paul has paid into the program for decades and he is now seeing the benefit of that. And he feels that people who have paid into it should have the benefit of collecting it and that future generations should have the option of NOT paying into it and not collecting it and instead save for their own retirement.

This makes good sense because we are coming to the end of the time that the huge baby boomer population is paying into social security and entering a time when fewer people are having children. And those who are having children are opting for smaller families. That means fewer people are going to be paying into social security and those who do pay into it will have to pay an enormous amount if we continue as is.

What Dr. Paul advocates is a phasing out of social security in favor of a program that will allow greater personal liberty and less debt for our children.

Make sense now?

because you're a clown. Clowns snicker, or cry. some clowns do the two. All clowns understand a thank you to cover a bowling pin, and nonetheless be in a position to sit down down in a dune buggy with 8 acquaintances. What defines a clown, is climate he laughs, or cries after the experience.

lol. To be fair, my gma was always going on about how she & my gpa (when he was alive) didn't need that money but they had no choice but to receive it. Now that my gpa is dead and she doesn't work and has nothing better than a HS degree, not a word.
Until some people actually experience something first hand, they seem to be clueless as to how things work, even when someone is there telling them about it.

He is acting like a dictator and king and should be impeached for abuse of power and removed from office. If voters wise up to him we will get rid of him next January. If not expect more dictatorship by Comrade Obama or King Obama I, take your pick
