Anybody have this rifle? How accurate and reliable are they

Never owned one or shot one, but from hearing things around the block they have a mixed reputation. Some people love them, some don't. Some people never have a problem with them, others have nothing but problems, and some people are in between.

Personally, I'd stay away from them. For quite a bit less money, I can get a Savage 64F. For just a little more, I could get a Ruger 10/22. For about the same money, I could get a Marlin 60.

The three rifles I mentioned all tend to have a better reputation, from what I hear. My personal preference, because I like Savage guns, is the 64F. It's hard to argue with a $140 gun that has the Savage Indian Head on it.

I shoot with my Dad every week and he has one. Very accurate - off a bench at 25 yards indoors definitely shooting inside a 1/4" with many types of ammo for 5 shot groups. Noticably better than a stock 10/22 carbine.

The full size stock is comfortable.

Have not had the magazine problems others claim to, and we have 5 factory 10 round magazines.

Stock trigger is better than expected. Crisp, probably in the 4 pound range from my guess. Definitely less than the Ruger, but definitely more than a Savage Accu-trigger for example.

My dad got a deal on the version with the included optic ... I wouldn't have bothered. The optic is ok, but I would rather have gotten a better one to wring the rifle out.

Generally? We've liked it pretty well. Definitely a good value for the money.

I have never owned one but I have shot a couple and have helped people set a few of them up.

Bad about the gun is the magazines. Stay away from plastic magazine guns and aluminum magazines are only marginally better.

The good is that in addition to the regular dovetail .22 scope mounts, there are already holes tapped in the top of the receiver to allow for a rail system in order to more securely mount optics.

To answer your question - Accurate as far as a semi-auto .22 (not as acurate as a nice bolt-action) and marginally reliable due to less than optimum magazine design.

I own one. I love the rifle itself. Shoot really accurately and feels good in the hand. I agree the magazines are not that great though and cause the gun to jam from time to time.
