I have a 1973 Johnson 25hp and I just replaced the impeller and now the motor will only shift into reverse and neutral is the coupler not all the way together or is the clutch out of sync now please help can't wait to hear your answer

The problem is the shift rod is not set properly.When you reinstalled the lower unit you did not have the shift rods set in gear.When you are installing the lower unit set the shift rod into forward gear and also set the shift lever on the motor into forward gear.Then when you should have all gears after you have tightened everything.
