I tell her of a "what-if" scenario of an economic collapse and that we should prepare by stocking up on food, and most importantly, buy appropriate weapons. We live in the suburbs, midwest.
She says "no" and that God will protect us, but I know that won't be happening.
I've been a "free-thinker" (or atheist if you want to call it that) for 2 years.

The economy already collapsed in the summer of 2008. This is why we don't want another draft dodging, capitalist president with Swiss bank accounts who sent the jobs to China but still receives the same tax breaks. Guns are dangerous but I understand your concern. Perhaps, you could find an alternative method of self preservation by taking classes on self-protection or body building. If this isn't acceptable for you offer to take some courses on gun safety and target practice. God helps those that help themselves.
Mom's house, Mom's rules, dude. I'll be that mom too. Right now my son is more interested in plastic toy guns, but someday I'll have to tell him no, and try not to mention the part about mommy's history of psychosis.
Your "free thinking" about the Domesday plots is kind of silly. The Apocalypse where everyone runs around shooting others makes for bad Science Fiction, but, not for reality.
