Blake vs Bolt, two sprinters from the same little island competing at the Olympics two main events for some, the 100m and 200m races. Bolt once was, and still is the fastest man ever known, but Blake is now. It will be interesting to watch them two no matter what once they are competing. Anyone in my opinion competing in the race can win it, I wonder will we see Usain's bolt of lightning pace, or even a white man walking away with the gold medals?

How about the USA and China or Russia. I'm Canadian and I'm, hoping for Canada to win some medals but they only have something like 277 athletes. The US has something like 529 and China and Russia have pretty big teams too. So I'm basing this mainly on the number of athletes competing. The more athletes, the greater the chance of rivalry and winning events. Wasn't that a terrific opening ceremonies? I loved the way the British illustrated their history through the ages. Just think of the creativity and mind it would take to put a presentation together like that- genius! I really liked the part with Mr. Bean and Chariots of Fire. The British certainly have some really hilarious humor!

The Olympics are unfair. No rivalry interests me. The rich white countries like GB, USA and Australia with their tons of money which they throw at their athletes will win most of the medals. And of course China.

There may be better athletes in Africa and other poor nations but without the money and facilities of the rich countries above they will not get a chance to enter the games

Are the athletes who win medals really the best in the world? No apart from the few African winners they are the wealthiest athletes in the world. They are fortunate to come from countries who are able to buy success.

The Olympic games are therefore phoney. It's a case of the rich beating the poor.

It perpetuates the myth of the superiority of some nations over others. It proves the old adage that money can buy you anything.

Let the Australians (Americans, Chinese, British etc) train on barren fields in sweltering heat without shoes and other equipment and lets see how many medals they win.

Undoubtedly now it's Korea vs. Germany after the infamous Shin fencing incident!

Denying her the shot at a Gold medal by Germany, with Korea's appeal of the decision made due to a faulty clock being denied.
It's been obvious to the whole world that Shin won. She was up by 1 point with only 1 second left and the clock did not stop, giving the German the opportunity to score again. Then making the girl wait for a 1/2 hour on the mat while they decided against her, making her cry. Shame on the Olympics , the judges , anyone involved. Shin won.

If Korea and Germany come head-to-head in any event, it will get ugly, likely bloody. The media will be all over it!

I just love watching all those young people doing things that I have never ever been able to do! Doesn't matter what country they are from, just knowing that these are the cream of the crop (and it's all so transient, someday they will be old like me) is so exciting and I want them all to win. Which they sort of have since how many of us can say we competed in the World Olympic Games??? I think they each are great and their physical prowess is not the only thing they have going--they have to get themselves into a certain mind set so everything else doesn't distract them. I'd never even be able to concentrate or want to compete in a very very local, minor manner and here are those Olympic kids breaking world records and competing against the world's best. Just takes your breath away.
