How violent is the Tim Burton movie musical Sweeney Todd?

Question

I've never actually watched any gorey horror movies before, but a few years ago my Mom let me watch Sweeney Todd; I had to leave the room whenever he slit someone's throat.

Now I'm older and, being a fan of musicals, I'd like to watch it again. I have a friend who is used to watching the blood & guts horror movies, and I was planning on asking her to watch it with me.

I mostly want to watch it for the songs and story, but I'm just curious. How violent is Sweeney Todd, and will I be able to handle it? The one time I watched it a while back I accidentally came in the room when he slit someone's throat, but I don't think it bothered me. 

I'm not used to watching movies like this, but I really would like to see it. I've got one of the songs on my MP3 player because I like it so much. But since I was out of the room for most of the movie I can't remember much of it at all.

So, how bad is it violence wise? I can handle language and etc. but is it very bad violence wise?

The movie is totally worth the gore that comes with it. It's easy to shut your eyes because you can usually tell when a cut is coming soon. The first half is definitely much easier to watch so if you only want to watch the beginning, that could work. THE MUSIC IS SOOO EPIC though so I'd say you can do it!

It depends on whether or not you're okay with the blood. Some people get sick at the sight of it. Others feel kind of sick, but they get over it. 

It's a good movie but he slashes A LOT of throats. Not to mention that what they do with the bodies afterward is disgusting. 

If you like musicals, and you'll have your friend with you (I bet if they're used to this kind of stuff, they've seen worse) and you don't think you'll be too sick, go for it. Just don't eat while watching it, and just to be safe, cover your eyes when he's about to slash someone. Other than that, I think you'll be okay.

Very! He's slashing people's throats and rs Lovett is making meat pies out of the bodies. I think you can cout on some violence, not to mention gore.

i dont think its that bad.

the blood doesn't even look like real blood. sure sweeney slits throats but they never show anything but blood pouring out.
