Describe the conic x^2 - y^2 = 9?

I understand it, but how would I describe it?

Well, first of all, it's a hyperbola, which is important to note. It has vertices of +3 and -3. It is centered at the origin. The branches open to the left and right, as opposed to up and down.

EDIT: By vertices, I mean it intersects the x-axis at +3 and -3.
