I read the string theory the other day, it suggests more than three dimensions for the maths to work out, since we cannot detect more than three dimensions, does that by any chance mean that there's more than one universe existing parallel our own? Don't forget we are assuming that the string theory is accurate in our hypothesis.

What's covered are higher dimensions, spatial dimensions. And that opens the door for the possibility of other universes nestled in among those higher dimensions. We are not able to sense them because we have no capabilities to sense anything beyond the traditional 3 spatial and 1 temporal dimensions of normal space-time.
But string/M theory does not predict other universes. It predicts only the standard and a few other sub atomic particles like the graviton, which are totally hypothetical.

The theory postulates that there are I think 11 dimensions of space; at the eleventh dimension there is a singularity in the symmetry meaning that the universe can be viewed as a membrane (why it's called M-theory). Then it's hypothesized that a membrane may exist within another space which is inhabited by other membranes therefore other universe.
