Dogwood Trees Questions?

I have a white or pink dogwood that was planted this April. I started watering it once a day until may, then 1 time a week until July now i think its established but now the leaves are turning a light brown and red/yellow. I know its not anthracnose but is this transplant shock? Leaf and Flower buds have formed and are all ready for spring. Next season will the leaves brown and turn red? Also, some ants keep persistingly going around the mulch/dirt of the tree i see no borers, maybe occasional bees but no harmful insects. I'm seeing some nbew root growth so im speculating the dogwood kinda adapted and im waiting for it to go into full dormancy.

Dogwood is not the easiest tree to grow.  Ants are not good.  Treat to kill the mound.  Make sure your mulch is not too close to the trunk.  It is best to plant on a mound.  The can be sensitive to over watering as well as drought. Dogwood is also very susceptible to mildew.  It would be a good idea to check with your county agent about regional planting practices for dogwood as well as problems.

Dogwoods like an acid soil they tend to do well in the same type of soil as azaleas. They are also susceptible to a virus that starts at the top of the tree and works its way down. They also do not respond well to getting their roots too dry.
