A Fender Starcaster was a model first produced in the late 1970s. It haw gwo humbucking pickups and was of semi-solid construction. It was seen as an attempt to compete with Gibson's ES335. It wasn't a success and was discontinued after a few years.
I would be very surprised if this came up on Google as a "cheap electric guitar" and suspect you are talking about a Starcaster guitar, NOT a Fender. Fender now use the Starcaster brand name to market cheap, poor-quality equipment. I have never played one but they have a poor reputation. No, the guitar is not difficult to lay but you need to learn how to do so first. What songs you like and eventually want to play is irrelevant.
first off, you can have the best guitar and it wont help anything. If you can get a Fender Strat, cool get it. Hopefully you'll get good, ditch the Fender and Green Day, and graduate to a Dean Razorback Slimebolt and play Exodus, Annihilator, Overkill, DEATH, and of course Pantera (deep tracks)
Sounds good, especially if it is cheap. 99% of guitars land in the corner of the room, after three months - not enough passion to learn. Hard like anything else, in life. Except for those few (0.00000001%) that are born with the talent. Peace.
Hey. I have a Fender.. it's white and it came with an amp and everything! :3 I suggest you buy one along with a capo so you can play ANY song you want. My mom bought 2 fenders. Each cost like $200 from a pawnshop. XD kbai.
I started with the stratcaster or something like that for Electric. But it might be easier and cheaper to start with Acoustic. You can get a Yamaha Beginner Acoustic Pack for $150 of a price along that range.
